ELECTRONIC DIGITAL IMAGES (EDI)
Beginning in May 2010, the club has placed projected images into the monthly competition. Please read the following requirements.
IMAGE CREATION
- Images may either be created with a digital camera or a conventional film camera with the image scanned into electronic format.
- Images may be enhanced using computer image editing software, such as Adobe Photoshop, but the original image and any subsequent editing of the image must have been made by the entrant.
- The content of the original image must be clearly identifiable within the enhanced image.
EDI IMAGE SIZE & NAMING
Images must follow these guidelines:
- The maximum size of any image is 1024 pixels wide and 768 pixels high
- The file size for any image will be a maximum of 500Kb
- The image will have been saved as a JPEG file in the sRGB colour space (usually the default setting)
- Image file names must begin with the member's code number, linked by an underscore with the title of the image e.g: 025_A Day at the Beach.jpg.
- A maximum of 120 characters is allowed in the label.
- Do not include the image title or the makers name within the image itself
UPLOADING ELECTRONIC IMAGES
- Enter the following URL into your browser: http://www.ballaratymcacameragroup.com.au/gallery/

Click on Registration in the left-hand column. Click on Agree for the Terms of Registration.
- Enter your proposed User Name, Password and your current Email Address and then enter the verification code as shown in the diagram. Click on Submit when finished.
- You will now receive an email sent to the address you gave on registering. Open this email and click on the activation link provided. You will now be registered.
- The browser will open for you to login with the user name and password you have given.
- Select one of the Directories e.g. Competitions â Trial Uploads then click on the Upload button in the top right of the page. Then click on the Choose File button and select the image file from the location on your computer.
- Enter the Image Name in the field provided i.e. â025_A Day at the Beach.jpgâ
- The next field (Description) is optional and will not be used for judging. However for future purposes it will provide you and others some background about the image .e.g where the photo was taken and under what conditions. (If your image still has the exif information attached it can be viewed when the image becomes public by clicking on the thumbnail). Similarly entering keywords allows discoverability of the image.
- Enter the Verification Code and Submit your image. Note that the image will not become visible until the judging is completed. It will then remain for public viewing unless you wish to remove it yourself.
- You have now completed the process!
Please feel free to try-out this process using the Competitions â Trial Uploads directory. This Directory will not be used for judging
OTHER STORAGE MEDIA
Images can be stored on any of the following media: CDROM, DVD, Memory Sticks or sent by email to: markbev@netspace.net.au
EDI images should be given to the Secretary, at the latest, one week prior to the August and October meetings.
VAPS RULES ON DIGITAL IMAGES

The images must have maximum image dimensions as follows: 1024 Pixels Wide X 768 Pixels High for each side of the rectangle. The dimensions can be smaller if desired, i.e 1000 pixels X 600 pixels or 900 pixels X 765 pixels would be OK.
The maximum file size is 500 Kilobytes.
